Montville CoffeeMontville Coffee

Premium quality coffee is only half the story at Montville Coffee. The rest is about our commitment to social action and community service.

Did you know that one of the only commodities that is traded more than coffee is oil?¹ In the search for higher profits, the price offered to farmers is less and less, leading to the situation where the current world price for coffee is lower than the cost of production. As a result, the world’s 25 million coffee producers are some of the poorest people on the planet.² When you buy our fair trade organic coffee, you know that the farmers are making much more than the current world price. They are also farming sustainably without the use of chemicals which is good for the environment and good for us as consumers.

At Montville Coffee, we also use our profits to help individuals and communities closer to home. This includes barista scholarships for local youths and donations to environmental education programs.

Available online: www.montvillecoffee.com.au and selected IGA's, for more information and stockists see their website.

Gourmet AfrikaCooking for Pleasure

Matilda Scarfe has just produced a fabulous new book to compliment her Gourmet Afrika condiment range, Cooking for Pleasure.

In this book Matilda shares many traditional recipes that are infused with a mix of South African and her own personal style of cooking.

Avocado Oil

Maleny Avocado Oil

If you haven’t tried avocado oil, do. It possesses a mildly nutty flavour and is fabulous in salads, sauces and marinades, but can be used in cooking as you would any other oil – roasted potatoes are to die for.

Avocado Oil is cold pressed from the flesh of an avocado, giving it a vibrant green colour. It grown in our very own Maleny hinterland and is rich in Vitamins A, B and D and lecithin, if you need any other reason to give it a try.

Duck RillettesDuck Rillettes - French Sin

If you are a duck fan (like I am) then you won’t want to bypass these. Duck Rillettes made by French Sin is delicious, eat straight from the jar with torn pieces of fresh baguettes, or if you are a little more civilised, then wait until you get home and serve with some toasted brioche.

Duck Rillettes take quite an effort to make yourself, so save yourself the time and the trouble and try it. It has that beautiful rich flavour that only duck has. Trust me, it won’t last long. Check out some of French Sin’s other products, they do a magic range of patés and terrines.

Pimentos de PadronPickled Pimentos de Padron – The Rolling Dolmade

I am sure everyone has heard me rave about these. The Rolling Dolmade’s Pickled Pimentos de Padron are the best.

Pimentos de Padron have the reputation as the Russian Roulette of chillis, meaning that about one in every ten are hot (that is, blow the roof of your mouth off hot). While sometimes they can be quite mild, sometimes they are, well... not!

Available at: Selected delis and the Noosa and Nambour Farmers’ Markets

Lychee SauceLychee Dessert Sauce – Tomarata Orchards

The lychee season is all to short so it is great to see some preserved lychee products creeping into the market. Tomarata Orchards, growers of lychees has a fabulous range of lychee preserves, the 2 most recent being their Lychee Dessert Sauce and Sweet Lychee Chilli Sauce.

Both have that sensual taste that only lychees have, the latter with a bit of bite that make an unusual addition to antipasto platters, sandwiches and even salad dressings - warrants a bit of experimentation.
