christmas nibbles... |
Christmas is such a fabulous time of year to go food scouting, as well as being able to source the freshest and the best, producers often offer that little something extra. Noosa Farmers' Market is a good place to start (now on weekly). If you are looking for a selection of nibbles for meze / antipasta platters look out for The Olive Guy; a fabulous selection of stuffed olives, peppers, and marinated mushrooms as well as a delicious Hommus. The Rolling Dolmade specialise in handmade meze (see this month’s profile). Try their Stuffed Vine Leaves; their Fennel Seed Labneh is to die for.Caloundra Markets has Taste Sensations; try their Jalapeño Stuffed Olives as well as their tapenades and pestos. The Eumundi Markets is another great Christmas shopping location. Look out for Meze Gourmet Delights; fabulous range of olives and tapenades, Lloyds Gourmet Condiments; great pestos and hommus. |

spanner crabs... |
Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas with out seafood so as a special treat, look out for the absolute freshest in Spanner Crabs from Spanner Crabs Noosa (see their profile also). Red Claw Crayfish are another great Christmas treat. I haven’t seen them that much at the markets but I am finding a lot of seafood wholesalers are now selling them, so just ask. There is not shortage of local fisherman bringing in fresh fabulous seafood as well. |

christmas puddings... |
Well, there is no shortage of anything at Christmas time and I really implore everyone to support our local industries at this special time of year. Once again Merry Christmas! |

The Eumundi Food Company makes one of the best Christmas Puddings I have come across usually found at the Eumundi Market and the Noosa Farmers Market as well as number of Deli’s on the coast, check out their gorgeous friands while you are there! One of my favourite Christmas treats is Crystal Waters Bakery’s Chocolate and Cherry Breads, if you see them, make sure you buy a loaf as this is a Christmas product only.
