About Local Harvest
Local Harvest (www.localharvest.com.au) first came to life in 2004 after I (Petra Frieser) felt the need to showcase the regional produce of the Sunshine Coast that I discovered while working on my first book, A Gourmet Odyssey – Noosa to Mooloolaba.
There just seemed to be so many wonderful things being either grown or produced and I felt like I was the only one that knew about them. So the Local Harvest website became a labour of love and a showcase site for a web design business that I partnered with my talented brother Richard. Since then I have also published two further books, Ginger – the flavours and the flowers and Shane Stanley’s Noosa Farmers’ Market
Over the years the site has grown and in April 2009 after a period of redesign and development I relaunched the site to cater for the growing need of features and changing technology.
Local Harvest aims to bring together growers, producers, retailers, restaurateurs and the general public through a comprehensive directory listing of the Sunshine Coast’s finest food and beverage industries.
The directory allows individuals to source growers and producers, offering contact details and information on the diverse range of products available and where to find them.
Each month we will endeavour to ‘Profile’ selected producers in order to introduce to subscribers and site visitors some of the wonderful products that are created here on the Sunshine Coast and the dedicated individuals behind these products.
Local Harvest is committed to generating an awareness of local industries and encouraging locals to support these industries.
And now we even have a blog!
I look forward to an ongoing relationship with these fabulous producers and bringing regional food news and information to all of you who are interested and hope that together we can continue to encourage and support these local industries.
Thank you for visiting the Local Harvest Blog.
Yours in food!
