My gosh, the congratulations are going out thick and fast to Sunshine Coast producers. This time it is Palato Gelato that manged to snare a not just one, but three silvers in the DIAA (Dairy Industry Association of Australia).
Here’s the story:
Jimmy and Natalie Morelli’s sojourn from 27 year’s experience in Italy back to their homeland is our tastebuds’ gain.
Born from a flippant remark made by one of our very own top restaurateur (“I can’t get any decent gelato for my restaurant”), Palato Gelato was recently awarded three silver awards by the DIAA (Dairy Industry Association of Australia) presented in Melbourne last Thursday [14th May].
The judges criteria for gold and silver awards are : flavour & aroma, body & texture, and presentation of production. Products are judged for “critical temperatures” (–12° to –15°) and tests for any potential faults.
The 3 awards: Silver for their Chocolate, Silver for their Pistachio and Silver for their Double-Roasted Macadamia. As well, Palato Gelato also got the top award for its packaging.
In less than 16 months, Palato Gelato has become an Italian tradition made in Noosa. Jimmy’s passion combines the blend of Australia’s exquisitely fresh produce together with professional expertise to produce this award-winning gelato marvel.
Already in retail outlets (Belmondos, Grub & Co, Pasta Pronto, Mia Cucina) and in our wonderful local restaurants, Jimmy and Natalie want to share their very own taste sensation far and wide.
Congratulations to both of you!!
