What a talented region we have, as if I didn’t already know – I keep telling you all! Now it has once again been confirmed with a spate of medals for our dairy industries on the Sunshine Coast.
The Queensland dairy industry took home a host of gold medals on May 12 from the 2010 Royal Queensland Food &
Wine Show Dairy Produce Show; below are some our local winning producers:
Maleny Dairies won three gold medals for their Natural Acid Yoghurt, Apricot Yoghurt, and Coffee Milk. Situated in the picturesque hills of Maleny, this family owned business has been farming on their property for three generations.
Colin James Fine Foods, situated in the picturesque Sunshine Coast Hinterland town of Maleny, struck gold with a haul of seven gold medals for their Strawberry Gelato, Berry Delight Gelato, Passionfruit Gelato, Macadamia Nut Gelato, Passionfruit Cheesecake Gelato, Lychee Ginger and Chocolate Gelato, and Espresso Coffee Gelato! In addition to the Gelato, they also feature a fromagerie stocking over 200 different cheeses.
Parmalat Australia – Nambour is the local face of this multi-national food and beverage giant, supporting one of the region’s traditional industries. They scored four gold medals with Paul’s Homogenised Milk, Strawberry Breaka, Ice Break, and their Goat’s Milk.
Palato Gelato won a gold for their cherry ripple gelato. After 15 years in Italy the home of gelato, Natalie Morelli returned to Australia with husband Gianmaria, where they soon established Palato Gelato in Noosa, operating from Belmondo’s Fresh Food Market.
